Lid-Mount Drum Mixer MBEP-500 for Plastic Drums (High-Speed, up to 500 mPa*s)
What makes this model different
The MBEP-500 is built into the original lid of an HDPE plastic drum. It is our own design and rarely found in other manufacturers' catalogues. The operator does not need separate clamps or brackets: he takes the lid with the integrated mixer, puts it on the drum instead of the original lid and starts mixing. When the job is done, the whole unit comes off in one piece.
The design works especially well when the operator handles several drums during a shift. The cycle is short: remove the original lid, fit our lid with the mixer, plug in, mix, lift off and move on to the next drum.
Who buys the MBEP-500
Two main industries: food and chemicals. In food production it goes to small plants mixing juices, diluted syrups and flavour concentrates — always with a 316Ti food-contact propeller. In chemicals it works with water-based paints, AdBlue, detergents, cleaning agents and liquid cosmetics.
A smaller group are furniture manufacturers, who use the MBEP-500 in small paint shops for water-based paints and pigment concentrates.
High-speed operation and optional inverter
The MBEP-500 runs at a nominal 900 rpm without a gearbox — the propeller is driven directly by the 0.75 kW motor. High speed creates strong hydrodynamic shear that disperses pigments, dissolves solids in the liquid phase and emulsifies water-based media. The viscosity limit is 500 mPa*s, which covers water-based and acrylic media and diluted chemical solutions. For thicker media in plastic drums we offer the stronger MBEP-5000.
At extra cost the MBEP-500 can be ordered with a frequency inverter. It gives stepless speed control in the range of 400–900 rpm, so the speed can be matched to a specific process or batch.
The most common reason to choose the inverter is foaming during mixing. Formulations with surfactants (detergents, shampoos, cleaning concentrates), some water-based paints and liquid cosmetics foam at the full 900 rpm. The operator lowers the speed, the liquid surface calms down, the foam settles and mixing continues under control.
Typical applications
- Small furniture and interior paint shops — pigment dispersion in water-based paints before application.
- Automotive — AdBlue in 200 L HDPE drums, service concentrates.
- Household chemicals — cleaning agents, detergents, concentrates.
- Re-suspending sediments after longer storage in the drum.
- Small food plants — flavour concentrates, juices, diluted syrups (316Ti food-contact propeller).
- Liquid cosmetics — shampoos, lotions, gels.

Design and service
We build the mixer lid with two things in mind: quick exchange with the original drum lid and a long service life of the shaft and bearings. The gearless direct drive means low wear and simple servicing. The 316Ti propeller is approved for food contact. Assembly and final testing take place in our plant in Poland.
