Pneumatic Lid-Mount Drum Mixer MBPP-1000 (HDPE Plastic Drums)
The MBPP-1000 is the pneumatic version of our lid-mount drum mixer platform. Same integration into the original HDPE drum lid as the MBEP-500, but the drive is an oil-free air motor running from a standard 6–7 bar shop air line. No electricity at the mixer.
Customers tell us the deciding factor is usually one of two things. The first is a coating shop or chemistry production hall where running electricity to the mixing area is more hassle than it is worth — small benches, frequent changeovers, no permanent installation. The second is solvent chemistry where the operator prefers a drive with no electric components on principle. The air motor produces no electric sparks by design, which removes one ignition source from the equation. Both reasons show up regularly in our orders.
What this version handles
- Coating shops with solvent-based paints, alkyds, polyurethane stains in HDPE drums.
- Chemistry production with solvents, alcohols, ester carriers — naturally intrinsically safe drive removes one risk factor.
- Plants where compressed air is already on tap and adding electricity to the mixing area is impractical.
- Light to medium viscosity media — surfactants, dilutions, light polymer solutions, water-based intermediates.

About "naturally intrinsically safe"
A pneumatic motor has no electric components, so there is no electric ignition source by design. This is a real physical property of the drive and customers handling informal solvent work pick the MBPP-1000 partly for this reason. But it is not the same thing as formal ATEX certification. If your area is a classified Zone 1 or Zone 2 under your facility's hazardous-area document, you need ATEX-rated equipment with traceable paperwork — which we build on the IBC side as the MKP-5000 Ex if your media moves up from drums to IBC totes. For drum service in a classified zone, talk to us about a custom-certified build.
