The pneumatic ATEX IBC mixer for coating shops and ethanol-bearing chemistry. Two layers of safety stacked on top of each other: the air motor has no electric components by design, and the whole system carries full ATEX EX II 2GD h IIb T4 certification for Zone 1. If your hall has compressed air, this is usually the simpler ATEX solution than dealing with an Ex motor and certified cable runs.

Pneumatic ATEX IBC Mixer MKP-5000 Ex (Zone 1, EX II 2GD h IIb T4)

The pneumatic ATEX IBC mixer for coating shops and ethanol-bearing chemistry. An air motor has no electric components, so there is no ignition source by design. On top of that we build the whole system to ATEX II 2G — earthed propeller and shaft, 1.4301 stainless steel bridge with grounding strap connection point, Ex air motor certified separately. Full Zone 1 service under Directive 2014/34/EU.

The most common job we see this model on is solvent paint blending in a classified coating shop. If your hall already has compressed air at 6–7 bar — and most coating and adhesive shops do — this is usually simpler to deploy than the electric MKE-10000 Ex Full ATEX. You skip the certified cable runs, the Ex control box and the supply transformer questions.

Where this mixer earns its keep

    • Coating shops mixing solvent paints (alkyd, polyurethane, nitro) in a classified Zone 1 area.
    • Production lines using ethanol, isopropanol or acetone as carrier — including some pharmaceutical intermediate steps.
    • Solvent-based adhesives — contact, neoprene, diluted PUR.
    • Polyester resins with styrene vapours.
    • Coating manufacturers who already invested in shop air and want to skip electric Ex infrastructure.

Why this version over the standard MKP-5000

The non-ATEX MKP-5000 has an air motor with no electric components, but the standard version is NOT formally intrinsically safe — other components do not meet ATEX requirements. That informal level is enough for many shops handling solvents without a classified zone. But if your area is formally classified as Zone 1 (or Zone 2), or your insurance or process safety review requires it, you need certified Ex execution and the earthing system. That is what this version adds.

And vs the electric Ex models?

    • MKE-10000 Ex — electric Zone 1 (same as Full ATEX but with separate control box outside the zone). Higher viscosity (10,000 mPa*s).
    • MKE-10000 Ex Full ATEX — electric, Zone 1, full system. Higher viscosity (10,000 mPa*s).

Choice usually comes down to two questions: (1) is there compressed air or three-phase mains in the area, and (2) does the viscosity ever exceed 5,000 mPa*s. If air is available and viscosity stays under 5,000, this pneumatic Ex is the simpler answer.
